On 1 April 2026, the consultation draft of the 9th amendment to MaRisk was published. In it, BaFin focuses in particular on the following three points:

  • streamlining the detailed requirements,
  • a clearer distinction regarding proportionality, and
  • a stronger integration of ESG and ICT/DORA.

We outline the key changes, explain what they mean for banks and highlight the areas that institutions should now prioritise.
